Atmospheric disturbance still over Sri Lanka

The atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the Department of Meteorology said this morning.

It said that showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island, particularly after 12.00 noon.

It also said that showers can occur at some places in the morning. Heavy falls (about 100 mm) are also likely at some places.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Sea cucumber to be smuggled to Sri Lanka seized in India

Around 500 kg of sea cucumber, meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka after being processed, was seized from a farm near Mandapam, the Press Trust of India reported. The sea cucumber was seized following a tip-off received by Mandapam marine police. When they went to the farm, they found around 10 persons involved in processing the sea cucumber.
