Shiyam’s father withdraws statement on Vass

The father of murdered businessman?Mohammed Shiyam has withdrawn the statement he made on?Former DIG Vass Gunawardena yesterday.

Mohamed Deen has yesterday told reporters outside court that former DIG Vass Gunawardena was not involved in the murder of his son.

However today?Mohamed Deen said that he had withdrawn the statement he made to the media.

Former DIG Vass Gunawardena, his son Ravindu and four others were yesterday?found guilty?in connection with the abduction and murder of millionaire businessman Mohammed Shiyam and were?sentenced to death.

A trial-at-bar?of the Colombo High Court announced the guilty verdict when the judgement into the case was issued.

Soft drink bottles to have color codes to identify sugar quantity

Soft drink bottles will?have color codes to identify the sugar quantity in the drink, the Ministry of Health said today. Accordingly bottles with a green code will have below 2 grams of sugar, amber between 2 – 11 grams and red above 11 grams. The color codes are to be introduced from August, the Ministry of Health said.
