Indian Army Chief Arrives in Sri Lanka for Two-Day Visit

The Chief of the Army Staff of India, General Upendra Dwivedi, arrived in Sri Lanka today for a two-day official visit, the Indian Ministry of Defence announced.

During his stay, General Dwivedi is expected to meet senior military and government leaders, including the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, the Deputy Minister of Defence and the Defence Secretary. Discussions will focus on areas of mutual interest such as training cooperation, capacity building and regional security.

The Indian Army Chief is also scheduled to address officers at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) and engage with officers and trainees at the Army War College in Buttala, underscoring India’s commitment to defence education and professional exchanges with Sri Lanka.

In addition, General Dwivedi will pay tribute at the IPKF War Memorial, honouring the sacrifice of Indian soldiers.

According to the Indian Defence Ministry, the visit further strengthens India’s efforts to deepen defence cooperation, build mutual trust and enhance interoperability with friendly nations in the Indian Ocean Region.

Hot and humid weather to continue
