Grocery stores to open in curfew areas on selected days

Grocery stores and pharmacies have been permitted to operate on selected days in curfew imposed areas, the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) announced. Head of the NOCPC Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said essential goods outlets and pharmacies will be allowed to operate on Mondays and Thursdays in the Gampaha and Kalutara districts. Museums operating under CCF temporarily closed

All museums in Sri Lanka under the Central Cultural Fund (CCF) will be temporarily closed from today. The Central Cultural Fund said all museums, including those in Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, Kataragama, Galle, and Kandy, will remain closed until further notice. The decision has been taken in light of the current coronavirus outbreak in the country, it added. Sri Lanka records its 3rd Covid death this month

Sri Lanka today recorded its third coronavirus related death this month. This is also Sri Lanka’s 17th coronavirus death and fourth in 2 months. The 17th victim has been identified as a 42-year-old man from Ja-Ela. The man had died while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases in Mulleriyawa.
