Teen makes statement at human rights commission

The teen falsely accused over the rape and murder of Seya Sadewmini in Kotadeniyawa, made a statement before the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka today.

The 17 year old boy and another individual who was also falsely accused over the murder, appeared before the Commission to make a statement.

Officers attached to the Kotadeniyawa police also appeared before the commission when the statements were being recorded.

The Minuwangoda Magistrate had earlier this month ordered the release of the 17 year old youth and the other man.

The order was given after DNA tests found that the two suspects had no direct connection with the murder of the child.

The 17 year old boy later claimed that he had been tortured while he was in police custody. (Colombo Gazette)
