Gota, eight others questioned again on Rakna Lanka

Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and eight others were questioned again today by the Presidential Commission investigating allegations of large scale fraud.

A Commission spokesman said that?Gotabaya Rajapaksa and former Directors of?Rakna Lanka were questioned over alleged misuse of power said to have taken place when the former Government was in power.

Rajapaksa and the former Directors of the company had been questioned on two previous occasions as well over the allegations. (Colombo Gazette)

Cops warn of marriage fraudsters

The police today urged the public, especially women, to be mindful of ?marriage fraudsters. A statement by the police media unit said that there have been reports of people promising to marry their lovers only to later go missing after obtaining money from the would be spouse. International Bar forced to postpone visit

A delegation from the International Bar Association?s Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI) has been forced to postpone a planned visit to Sri Lanka to assess the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary due to the last minute withdrawal of permission to enter the country, the press office of the institute said.
