Heroin worth over Rs. 2 billion seized

The Police Narcotics Bureau seized 225 Kg of heroin during a raid conducted in Ja-Ela today. The seized contraband is valued at over Rs. 2.25 billion. Four suspects were arrested for the possession of the narcotics, while two vehicles had also been seized. The suspects were arrested while preparing to transport the drugs concealed in bags containing rice. (Colombo Gazette)

Curfew to be strictly enforced on Sunday

The Police said that the curfew will be strictly enforced on Sunday around the country. Senior Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Ajith Rohana said that no one will be able to step out during the curfew on Sunday 17 May. He said that a special operation will be conducted around the island on Sunday to arrest anyone violating the strict curfew.
