India urged to get involved in Sri Lankan issue

The Communist Party of India says the Indian Government should take efforts to find a solution to the problems of Tamil population Sri Lanka, considering the changed political equation in that country.

Though there were high expectations after the defeat of Mahinda Rajapaksha and installation of Sirisena as President last year, no no development had taken place either with regard to Tamils or giving equal status on par with Sinhalese to them, CPI Tamil Nadu Secretary R Mutharasan told reporters in India, the Press Trust of India reported.

With Ranil Wickramesinghe taking charge as Prime Minister of Island Nation for the fourth time, the NDA government should take serious efforts from the word go to find an amicable solution to the contentious issue, he said.

The public have been urged not to overcrowd fuel stations to get their fuel quota tomorrow (Monday). The Power and Energy Ministry said that the public will have the entire week to obtain their fuel quota for the week from fuel stations across the island.
