Media activists in Sri Lanka will gather today (Wednesday) to commemorate “Black January” following a spate of attacks on the media during the month over the past few years. Records destroyed in Sri Lankan prison riot

Important records of inmates of the main Sri Lankan prison in Colombo were destroyed during a riot on Tuesday, the government said. The Minister in charge of Sri Lankan prisons, Chandrasiri Gajadheera, told reporters on Wednesday that a special investigation has been launched into the prison riot. Suspect involved in Wilpattu bombing arrested

The police have arrested an LTTE suspect involved in the bombing of a vehicle inside the Wilpattu national park in 2006, the police media unit said today. According to the police, the suspect is a resident of Mannar and was involved in LTTE activities during the war.
