UPFA gets most seats in Hambantota District

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) secured the most number of seats in the Hambantota District at the 2015 Parliamentary election.

The UPFA got 4 seats 196,980 votes (53.84%) while the United National Party (UNP) got 2 seats with 130,433 votes (35.65%) and the JVP 1 seat.

PM calls on nation to focus on common enemy

Probe launched over attack on Hambantota official

Co- Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena and the Postmaster General have filed a complaint with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on a recent attack on the Deputy Postmaster General in Hambantota. Addressing the media, Minister Gunawardena said that 3 persons had attacked the Deputy Postmaster General in Rukmalpitiya- Katuwana, Hambantota. The Deputy Postmaster General had been attacked when he had arrived to hand over the government granted allowance to a pensioner in the area.
