Health Ministry Additional Secretary arrested

The Additional Secretary of the Health Ministry, Saman Ratnayake, was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over substandard human intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) procurement scam. He was arrested after the CID recorded a statement from him over the allegations which also involved former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella. Etihad increases flights to Colombo following spike in tourist arrivals

Etihad Airways, the national Career of the United Arab Emirates, will increase the frequency of flight operations to Colombo effective from 1st May 2024. EC to consider request to allow Sri Lankans overseas to vote

The Election Commission is to consider a request to allow Sri Lankans living overseas to vote at future elections. A request in this regard was put forward to the Election Commission by a civil society organization. The group noted that there are thousands of Sri Lankans who are either employed overseas or are dual citizens. The Election Commission was requested to make arrangements for Sri Lankans overseas to be able to vote from their respective counties at future elections in Sri Lanka. T
