Gotabaya says he will not enter politics

Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the brother of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, says he will not enter politics.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa also noted that when he was the?Defence Secretary he had done a lot to ensure the National Security was maintained.

The former Defence Secretary said that during the five years following the end of the war, Sri Lanka’s?National Security was not under threat.

Rajapaksa said this when questioned my the media at an event at Padukka. (Colombo Gazette)

New deal to be signed with ICRC to inspect detention centres

Cabinet has approved a proposal to sign a new agreement with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the ICRC to inspect prisons and?detention centres. The proposal put forward by Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana was approved by the cabinet, the Government information department said.
