Most of Gota’s military security replaced with STF

Most of the military security provided to former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been replaced with the police Special Task Force (STF).

Rajapaksa’s military security was withdrawn today despite a request he made to the Ministry of
Defence to reconsider the decision.

He had urged the?Ministry of?Defence to maintain his army security as his life is under threat.

However the?Ministry of?Defence decided to withdraw his military security in line with a decision taken to replace all VIP army security with the STF.

The?military security provided to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was also withdrawn recently.?(Colombo Gazette)

One person killed, several injured as elephant attacks van

Gold seized from Lankan women at Cochin International Airport

India’s?Customs air intelligence unit seized gold bars and jewellery weighing 832 gm and valued at Indian Rs 26 lakh, from two Sri Lankan women passengers at the Cochin International Airport, The Hindu newspaper reported.
