Accident on highway in Athurugiriya kills woman, 6 injured

An accident on the Outer Circular Highway in Athurugiriya claimed the life of one woman and injured 6 others. The Police said that a van heading towards Athurugiriya from Galle crashed into a jeep on the highway. The driver of the jeep and 6 others, including those travelling in the van were admitted to the Homagama Hospital for treatment. The Police said that one woman succumbed to her injuries in hospital. The victim is a 57-year-old resident of Malabe. (Colombo Gazette)

New CDS asks 3 defence forces to work on creation of theatre commands

General Anil Chauhan, the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has asked the Army, Navy, and Air Force to move forward with the creation of integrated theatre commands in his first communication with the three armed forces.
