Police to file case on protest

The Fort police is to go to court over the opposition protest staged yesterday which had violated a court ruling.
Police spokesman SP Budhika Siriwardena said that the police will file the case with the Colombo Additional Magistrate.
The Magistrate had yesterday issued an order allowing the protest opposite the Fort railway station to go ahead but to be confined to the railway station pavement.
The Magistrate had told the police to ensure the protesters do no block the normal flow of traffic.
However the opposition protesters had gone onto the street and staged a sit-down protest and disrupted traffic.
The protest was organized by the opposition against the Weliweriya incident. (Colombo Gazette)
