Rift in TNA over CM post

A rift has arisen in the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) as to who should be nominated as the Chief Ministerial candidate for the Northern Provincial Council elections.
There are reports that while one section of the TNA wants TNA General Secretary Mavai Senathirajah to be nominated there are others who are backing former?Supreme Court Judge C.V.Vigneswaran for the post.
At least two rounds of discussions have been held among the alliance members on the issue but a consensus has not been reached.
While most TNA members feel Mavai Senathirajah is the best candidate since he has been in the North most of his life, others feel?Vigneswaran may be best with his legal background. (Colombo Gazette)

Infections in Colombo go past 14,500

The total number of Covid patients detected in Colombo since the second outbreak in Sri Lanka has surpassed 14,500 as of today. The National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) said that 14,551 coronavirus patients have been reported in Colombo since 4 October 2020.
