Party leaders to discuss impeachment of CJ

Political party leaders are to meet tomorrow (Monday) to discuss the motion to impeach Chief Justice (CJ) Shirani Banadaranayake.

Chief opposition whip John Amaratunga said that the party leaders meeting will take place in parliament tomorrow.

The meeting comes a day before Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa presents the motion to parliament.

The UNP has said it will take part in the parliament select committee once the motion is presented to parliament on Tuesday.

Meanwhile JVP MP Vijitha Herath said that a protest will be staged tomorrow in Colombo against the impeachment motion on the CJ.

The impeachment motion was handed over to the Speaker last week with the signatures of 117 government MPs.

No move to increase fuel prices
