Supreme Court issues stay order on Geetha’s MP seat

The Supreme Court today?issued a stay order on the Appeal Court ruling on?Geetha Kumarasinghe’s Parliament seat till May 15. The stay order was issued after?Kumarasinghe filed a petition against the?Appeal Court ruling which disqualifies her from holding a seat in Parliament as a result of her dual citizenship.

Soldier injured as train rams into military truck

A soldier was?injured when a Colombo bound train crashed into a military truck in Chavakachcheri today. The police said the truck had attempted to cross the railway track when the train crashed into it. Reports from the area said that four soldiers were in the truck when the accident occurred. The four soldiers had managed to jump off the truck when they saw the train and in the process one soldier suffered injuries and was admitted to hospital. (Colombo Gazette)
