Basil to attend FUTA press con

Economic?Development?Minister Basil Rajapaksa is to attend the joint press conference of the Higher Education Ministry and the?Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) today.

The government information department said that the joint press conference will be held at the Economic Development Ministry this afternoon.

Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake had earlier told Parliament yesterday that he will be attending a joint media briefing with FUTA today.

The joint press briefing is being held to brief the media on the talks held between the government and FUTA following the dispute over salaries.

A strike launched by academics at state Universities is also expected to end today as a result of an agreement reached between both sides. ?(Colombo Gazette)

Asylum boat with Lankans sinks
