Fire engulfs home, 4 injured

A fire broke out at a house in Ragama early this morning injuring four people, the police media unit said.

The police said that four people of the same family, including a couple and their children, sustained minor injuries and were admitted to the Ragama hospital.

The cause for the blaze was still not known and the fire was doused by the police with the asssiatnce of the public.

All four inmates of the house were rescued from the top floor of the house after the fire was extinguished.

Police investigations are underway.

UPDATE:?A 10 year old child succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

Former CWC Leader Muthu Sivalingam passed away

Former Leader of the Ceylon Workers? Congress (CWC) Muthu Sivalingam passed away. He was aged 79 at the time of his death. Sivalingam was a Member of Parliament for the Nuwara Eliya District. He was a Member of Parliament from 1994 to 2015. Sivalingam was a Deputy Minister of Primary Industries, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Minister of Estate Housing Infrastructure and Community Development, and the Deputy Minister of Economic Development. Siridhamma Thero granted bail but remanded again

The convenor of Inter-University Bhikkhu Federation (IUBF), the Venerable Galwewa Siridhamma Thero was granted bail today but was later remanded again. The Venerable Galwewa Siridhamma Thero was granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate?s Court today on two personal bails of Rs. 500,000 each. He was also banned from travelling overseas and making statements over the case.
