Police fire tear gas on medical students

The Police fired tear gas and water on medical students protesting near the World Trade Centre today.

The students had attempted to remove Police barricades and the Police initially fired water.

The Police later fired tear gas to disperse the students.

Just yesterday the Police fired tear gas and water on violent protesters at the same location.

A group of protesters had gathered yesterday near Police barricades placed to close the road near the World Trade Center, leading to the President?s House.

The protesters made several attempts to remove the barricades after most of those who took part in a peaceful march earlier withdrew.

A court order had been obtained by the Police against the protesters from entering some of the roads in Fort.

However, a handful of protesters disregarded the court order and clashed with the Police by attempting to remove the barricades near the World Trade Center.

The Police fired tear gas and water in an attempt to disperse the protesters.?(Colombo Gazette)

Two coronavirus patients escape from IDH hospital

Two coronavirus patients escaped from the Infectious Disease Hospital (Angoda Fever Hospital), the military said today.
