Clifford Richards in Concert 2018

The versatile Clifford Richards held his Annual Concert for eight successive years and this year it was held at the Bishop?s College Auditorium, Colombo. The guest artists for this year?s concert was Stephanie Siriwardena, Yureni Noshika, Anthony Surendra supported by the Channa Upuli Dancers. The Compere was Sharon Mascarenhas and the Band ?Flame? provided the music. Clifford?s Daughter Jacintha and son Alvan sang super solo performances. Pictures by Zarani

Holi festival on the Beach 2018 at the Mount Lavinia Hotel

The Holi festival was celebrated on the Beach of the Mount Lavinia Hotel on March 10, 2018. Holi, a festive day filled with color, is popular in India and marks the end of winter and the abundance of the upcoming spring harvest season. Participants spent the day smearing colored powder all over each other?s faces and having a blast, and of course dancing under water sprinklers. Galle Face Hotel commemorates Black Tot Day and offers a taste of history

Black Tot Day commemorates 31 July, 1970 and is the name given to the last day on which the British Royal Navy issued sailors with a daily rum ration. After the Battle of Trafalgar, daily rum rations (also called a tot) were instigated where they gave sailors half a pint of navy proof rum 78% ABV, which they downed and got back to work.
