Fifteen member gang murders man

A fifteen member gang hacked to death a man in Ratmalana eary this morning and also caused injuries to his wife.

The police media unit said that the armed gang had broken into the house and shot the man and later hacked him to death.

The victim was identified as 62 year old Lional Silva, the police said.?His wife suffered stab injuries and was later admitted to hospital.

So far the police have not been able to arrest anyone over the incident.

The Mount Lavinia police are conducting investigations.

Government to take decision this week on gas cylinders

The Government is to take a decision this week on the issue over explosions linked to domestic gas cylinders, State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna said today. The State Minister told Parliament that reports sought based on investigations conducted on the explosions caused by gas leaks in domestic gas cylinders are expected this week.
