CID to probe Dehiwala incident

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has taken over the investigations into the grenade attack on the house of Dr. Lalantha Abeyranasinghe in Dehiwala, the police said today.

A grenade was lobbed at the doctor?s house yesterday by an unidentified group and as a result doctor?s at state hospitals decided to lunch a strike today in protest over the attack.

The police media unit said that the Dehiwala police had already launched investigations into the incident yesterday.

However today the CID was tasked to investigate the attack and a team had been deployed to carry out the investigations.
