Man nabbed with cocaine in belly

A Philippines national has been arrested with cocaine in his belly, the police media unit said today.

The police said that the man had arrived in the country yesterday from Qatar onboard a Qatar airline.

He was then searched based on information received that he was transporting banned items.

When the suspect was grilled by the police it was found that he had swallowed cocaine hidden in capsules.

The suspect was taken to the Negombo hospital and 30 cocaine capsules were removed from his belly.

The Philippines national has been kept under detention pending further investigations.

Court remands Sicille Kotelawala till February 23

Sicille Kotelawala, wife of businessman Lalith Kotelawala, was ordered to be remanded till February 23 by the Fort Magistrate today. She?was?arrested on February 4?after returning to the country at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA). Sri Lankan authorities had in 2009 sought Interpol assistance to arrest?Sicille Kotelawala, one of the main suspects in the Rs 26 billion Golden Key credit card fraud.
