Wigneswaran mulls NPC war crimes accountability mechanism

The Chief Minister of the Northern Province C V Wigneswaran has suggested that the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) explore the legal possibility of instituting its own independent war crimes accountability mechanism in the absence of an international judicial mechanism recommended by the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in September 2015. Controversial astrologer Vijitha Rohana arrested

Controversial astrologer Vijitha Rohana Wijemuni was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today. He was arrested over defamatory claims made about President Maithripala Sirisena using social media. Vijitha Rohana Wijemuni is also noted for his assault on Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on 30 July 1987 at President’s House, Colombo. (Colombo Gazette)
