Ranil, India discuss Geneva developments

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today?briefed India on developments taking place at the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva.

Wickremesinghe told reporters that the Government is expecting a favorable outcome in Geneva which will lead to a settlement on the human rights issue.

He said the Government is keen to achieve reconciliation and while looking at the past Sri Lanka will work with all communities and look at the future.

The Prime Minister also thanked India for the support it has given to resettle war affected families in the North and East.

He said the Government is looking at how devolution of power can take place in Sri Lanka within a unitary state and there is still scope for much more to be done.

The Prime Minister also said that he hopes agreements on economic co-orporation between India and Sri Lanka could be signed next year.?(Colombo Gazette)
