Troubled CPC board replaced

The chairman and board of directors of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) have been replaced, the Petroleum Resources Ministry said today.

The new appointment of the new board comes amidst the CPC facing controversy over the supply of substandard fuel on at least two occasions.

According to the Petroleum Resources Ministry Tilak Collure has been appointed as the new chairman while the board of directors include Susantha Silva, Hans Wijeysuriya and Nalin Patikirikorala.

The CPC has been suffering losses in recent times and just last week it was embroiled in controversy after contaminated diesel was distributed to the market.

Special commodity tax on imported potatoes increased

The special commodity tax on imported potatoes has been increased, the Finance Ministry said. According to the?Finance Ministry, the?special commodity tax on imported potatoes has been increased from Rs. 35 to Rs. 40 per kilo from today.
