Four visiting Turkish chefs are cooking alongside Shangri-La Colombo’s culinary team as Flavours of Türkiye returns to Central Restaurant from 30 October to 7 November 2026.
The festival brings Turkish dishes and music into the restaurant’s dinner buffet, with service running daily from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. The advertised price is Rs. 9,539 nett per person.
Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Türkiye, the programme features chefs Ali Taşpınar, Caner Dolu, Mehmet Erdoğan and Feyzullah Kalkan. Their visit forms the centrepiece of the hotel’s latest celebration of Turkish cuisine.
The menu includes hummus and other mezze, börek with savoury fillings, grilled kebabs and baklava finished with pistachio. Diners can explore the Turkish selection as part of Central’s buffet rather than through a separately described set menu.
Turkish music accompanies the food, adding a cultural element to the evening programme. The festival follows an earlier edition of the same culinary celebration at the Colombo hotel.
General Manager Andreas Streiber said bringing four chefs from Türkiye would give diners a personal connection to the cuisine, including the traditions, skills and stories behind individual dishes.
He described the programme as an opportunity to share Turkish food through an experience incorporating music and culture alongside the hotel’s hospitality.
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Semih Lütfü Turgut, linked the festival to the country’s tradition of welcoming people to the table. He said Turkish cuisine reflected generations of regional traditions and the sharing of meals.
The ambassador also expressed the hope that encounters through food and music would deepen friendship between the two countries and bring their people closer.
The festival continues through 7 November at Central Restaurant, Shangri-La Colombo. Reservations and further information are available by calling +94 77 817 4529 or emailing central.slcb@shangri-la.com.
