Sri Lanka presented investment projects in energy, tourism, technology and other sectors at the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo in Malaysia, according to the country’s High Commission.

The sixth edition of SPARK took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 14 to 17 October.

Sri Lanka’s High Commission in Malaysia participated with support from the Board of Investment, presenting a portfolio described as ready-to-invest projects.

The projects covered energy, tourism and leisure, information technology and technology parks, manufacturing, agriculture, shipping and logistics, and real estate.

The High Commission said its participation aimed to attract Malaysian investors and develop commercial relationships between businesses in the two countries.

Sri Lankan High Commissioner Dharshana M. Perera joined Selangor Crown Prince Tengku Amir Shah at the opening of Sri Lanka’s presentation on 14 October, according to the release.

The opening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the lighting of a traditional oil lamp.

The High Commission said the wider expo attracted more than 1,000 participants, including investors, business leaders and industry representatives.

Its account identified technology parks, information and communications technology, and real estate among the event’s areas of focus.

Sri Lanka also promoted Expo 2027 during the programme, seeking to generate interest among Malaysian participants.

The release described the initiative as part of the High Commission’s economic diplomacy programme.

It did not identify signed investment agreements, committed funding or completed transactions arising from Sri Lanka’s participation.
