Sri Lanka Participates in WION Iconic Tourism Summit 2026

High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India Mahishini Colonne participated in the WION Iconic Tourism Summit & Awards 2026, held in New Delhi on 23 September, as a panellist at the session “Soft Power on the Move: Tourism, Culture & Bilateral Ties”, moderated by Foreign Affairs Editor of WION Sidhant Sibal.

The panel brought together the Heads of Mission of Sri Lanka, Greece, Ireland, Slovakia and Nicaragua, who shared perspectives on tourism, culture, people-to-people connectivity and the role of tourism in strengthening mutual understanding.

The Summit brought together policymakers, diplomats and leaders from the tourism, travel, aviation and hospitality sectors to discuss developments in global travel, mobility, technology and connectivity.

Senior monk of Malwatte Chapter passed away

A senior monk of the Malwatte Chapter passed away at the age of 103. The senior member of the Karaka Sabha of the Malwatte Chapter of the Shiamopali Maha Nikaya, the Venerable Mahopadyaya Aluthgama Sri Dharmananda Nayake Thera, passed away today. The monk was receiving treatment in Kandy when he passed away.
