Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain Holds Free Medical Camp alongside Consular and Labour Services for the Sri Lankan Community

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in collaboration with the Sri  Lankan Engineering Society in Bahrain and the American Mission Hospital, successfully  organized a Free Medical Camp for the Sri Lankan community on 11 September 2026 at  the premises of the Embassy. 

Over 100 Sri Lankan nationals benefited from the medical services, receiving free health  screenings, including height and weight measurements, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood  pressure and blood sugar tests, as well as one-to-one consultations with medical  professionals from the American Mission Hospital in Internal Medicine, Ear, Nose and  Throat (ENT), Nutrition, Eye Care and Dental Care. 

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Shanika  Dissanayake expressed her sincere appreciation to the Sri Lankan Engineering Society in  Bahrain and the American Mission Hospital for their invaluable partnership and  continued support to the Embassy in providing this service. The Ambassador also  encouraged members of the Sri Lankan community to make full use of the services  provided during the programme, including consular and labour-related services. 

President of the Sri Lankan Engineering Society, Nilanga Gunawardena underscored the  importance of regular health awareness and preventive healthcare among the Sri Lankan  community. Representing the American Mission Hospital, Dr. Babu Ramachandran  reaffirmed the hospital’s continued dedication to promoting the health and well-being of  the Sri Lankan community in Bahrain. 

Parallel to the Medical Camp, the Embassy, for the first time, held a Consular Camp  providing consular and labour-related services, including assistance and information on  consular matters, registration with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment  (SLBFE), and information on insurance coverage, the Migrant Worker Multi-purpose  Loan Scheme and other benefits available to Sri Lankan migrant workers. The initiative  enabled Sri Lankans in Bahrain to access essential information, guidance and assistance  from the Embassy. 

A Sri Lankan breakfast was provided for all attendees.
