Alumex PLC Supports Falcon Racing with FALCON E1 Launch

Alumex PLC, Sri Lanka’s leading aluminium extrusion manufacturer, was the Official Material Sponsor of ‘Unleashed 2026,’ the launch of FALCON E1, a next-generation electric racing car designed entirely by University of Moratuwa students. Held on 4 March 2026, the event marks a milestone in Sri Lanka’s engineering innovation landscape.

The FALCON E1, developed by Team Falcon Racing, features advanced design, precision manufacturing, and cutting-edge electric vehicle technologies. Alumex provided approximately 650 kilograms of aluminium components and specialized anodizing services, enhancing structural integrity and the vehicle’s power-to-weight ratio. This marks the third consecutive electric racing project supported by Alumex, reflecting its commitment to student engineering innovation and sustainable mobility.

Managing Director Pramuk Dediwela said, “Supporting the Falcon Racing team demonstrates our commitment to empowering the next generation of Sri Lankan engineers. These young innovators show Sri Lanka’s ability to compete on global engineering platforms.”

Alumex’s materials and technical support were pivotal in manufacturing precision components essential for performance and safety. The FALCON E1, weighing 245 kg with a 72 kW motor and 7.99 kWh accumulator, is engineered for efficiency and competitive electric racing.

The vehicle is expected to represent Sri Lanka at the Formula Student Spain competition at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya later this year. Alumex’s partnership highlights the importance of industry collaboration in advancing local engineering talent and positioning Sri Lanka on the global technology stage.

No change in Sri Lanka’s policy towards Palestine

The Government today asserted that there was no change to Sri Lanka’s policy towards Palestine. Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera told Parliament that the relations between both countries is strong as ever. He recalled that Sri Lanka has supported Palestine in the international fora including in the UN. Gammanpila tells Lanka to follow India on currency note
