Medical experts to examine women who complained against doctor

Medical experts will examine the women who complained against a doctor in Kurunegala, Dr. Mohamed Shafi. The Chief Judicial Medical Officer in Colombo will head the committee of experts to examine the women. Dr. Mohamed Shafi has been accused of?performing illegal sterilizations on women. The Criminal Investigation Department has recorded statements from 421 females and 26 doctors and also 69 nurses and 18 other hospital staff over the illegal sterilizations.

Four bodies from Sainthamaruthu incident exhumed

The bodies of four people killed during the incident in Sainthamaruthu following the Easter Sunday attacks, were exhumed today. The bodies were exhumed on a court order to obtain more samples for the ongoing investigations. At least 16 people, including women and children were killed in an explosion in Sainthamaruthu when the Police and troops confronted suspected bombers in a house in April.
