Annual Sri Pada Pilgrimage Season Begins

The annual Sri Pada (Adam’s Peak) pilgrimage season commenced today, marking the start of several months of spiritual observances.

The season runs from Unduwap Poya in December to the Wesak Poya Festival in May, traditionally reaching its peak around Medin Poya.

The festivities began with the ceremonial transfer of the “Sadhatuka Karaduwa”, “Samandeva Prathimawa”, and other sacred ornaments from the historic Sri Pada Temple in Galpotthawala, Pelmadulla, to the Sri Pada Uda Maluwa, signaling the official start of the pilgrimage season.
