Sri Lanka Expo 2026 Preparations Kick Off

A key meeting on Sri Lanka Expo 2026 was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism, marking an important step forward in the country’s preparations for the flagship international trade event. The discussion was co-chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra and Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Chathuranga Abeysinghe.

Senior officials from multiple government agencies participated, including Secretary to the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Thilaka Jayasundara, Export Development Board (EDB) Chairman Mangala Wijesinghe, and Senior Director General (Economic Affairs) Mr. Dharshana. Directors and Assistant Directors from both Ministries were also in attendance, while Heads of Mission and Commercial Diplomats joined virtually, underscoring strong cross-government and international coordination.

Sri Lanka Expo 2026 marks the country’s return to hosting the event after a 13-year hiatus. The upcoming edition is expected to support national efforts to create a stable, predictable, and investor-friendly economic environment. With the EDB already setting clear export targets, the discussions focused on ensuring institutional preparedness, enhancing international engagement, and strengthening the global positioning of Sri Lankan exports.

The meeting reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to making Sri Lanka Expo 2026 a prominent platform for trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
