The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has extended the suspension of Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) from carrying on the business and activities of a Primary Dealer.
Issuing a statement, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka said that the suspension has been extended for another 6 months from 05th July 2025.
The bank said the decision was taken, acting in terms of the Regulations made under the Registered Stock and Securities Ordinance and the Local Treasury Bills Ordinance, in order to continue the investigations being conducted by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
Perpetual Treasuries Limited is being investigated over the Central Bank treasury bond scam.
A case had been filed in court by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) over the 2015 controversial bond issue, which allegedly caused a loss of over Rs. 10 billion to the Sri Lankan Government. (Colombo Gazette)
