Thousands of Dawoodi Bohra community members gather in Colombo

Thousands of Dawoodi Bohra community members from around the world are currently in Sri Lanka for a major spiritual gathering.

Colombo has been selected as a satellite centre for the Dawoodi Bohras community’s Ashara Mubaraka congregations, marking the second consecutive year in this distinguished role.

The two central venues—Husaini Masjid in Bambalapitiya and the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC)—have been prepared to accommodate congregations.

Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake had recently instructed the relevant officials to provide the maximum support necessary to successfully hold the event in Colombo.

The leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin will deliver the sermons from Chennai, India.

The sermons in Colombo will be telecast over nine days, beginning on 27th June 2025, in a setting that combines solemnity with seamless hospitality.

In collaboration with local authorities, the Dawoodi Bohra community in Colombo has organised extensive arrangements, including accommodation, medical support, and dining facilities.
