Iran’s envoy to Sri Lanka warns Israel

Iran’s envoy to Sri Lanka Dr. Alireza Delkhosh warned Israel on Thursday saying his country will respond “decisively” to any ceasefire violation.

Speaking to reporters in Colombo, Dr. Alireza Delkhosh, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Sri Lanka, accused the US of supporting Israel and attacking Iran’s peaceful infrastructure.

He also said that UN Security Council has an obligation to respond to the breach of peace.

The Ambassador also said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) needs to remain impartial.

Dr. Alireza Delkhosh said that Iran has a legitimate right to self-defense under international law and is prepared to respond decisively to any ceasefire violation by Israel.

Earlier, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had declared “victory” over Israel and claimed his country “delivered a hard slap to America’s face”, in his first public statement since a ceasefire was declared in the war between the two Middle Eastern countries.

The 86-year-old Khamenei spoke in a video broadcast on Iranian state television on Thursday, appearing and sounding more fatigued than he did in his last video released seven days ago. (Colombo Gazette)
