Sajith accused of making u-turn on SLPP

The Government accused Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa of making a u-turn regarding his stand never to work with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe told Parliament that Premadasa had earlier made statements saying the SLPP was responsible for spreading hate and violence and of being corrupt.

He said that Premadasa had consistently maintained he will never join hands with the SLPP.

However, Jayasinghe said Premadasa backtracked on his word and worked with the SLPP to grab power in some Local Government councils.
