Luxury bus service launched between Katunayake airport and Colombo

A luxury bus service has been launched between the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Colombo Fort.

Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited said that in a significant move to enhance transport convenience for air travelers and the airport users, the Route 187 Airport – Colombo Fort A/C Bus Service is now operational, providing a comfortable, direct connection between Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Colombo Fort.

The bus service operates, offering a direct link between Sri Lanka’s main international gateway and the Colombo Fort Railway Station as well as the Colombo Main Bus Terminal.

The 187 Airport – Colombo Fort luxury bus service was jointly implemented by Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited and the Road Passenger Transport Authority.

Passengers can board the bus at the Departure Terminal Outer Porch at BIA, ensuring easy access for both departing and arriving travelers and the airport visitors. The service operates 24 hours a day, with frequent departures every 10 minutes, and the travel time to Colombo is approximately 50 minutes.

The ticket fare is Rs 290 per person, with an additional charge of Rs 290 for baggage exceeding 23kg.

This service is expected to significantly ease the travel experience for foreign and local passengers and the airport visitors, supporting Sri Lanka’s broader goals of promoting tourism and enhancing transport infrastructure.
