Tamil MP says Sri Lanka still remains divided

Tamil MP Shanakiyan?Rajaputhiran?Rasamanickam says there is a clear division between the “Tamil nation and Sinhalese nation” in Sri Lanka and this was evident during the events held on May 18 and 19th.

The MP told Parliament that Sri Lanka does not need to have a “Sri Lanka Day” as proposed by President Anura Kumara Disanayake.

He said that on 18th May the Tamils commemorated the Tamils killed during the war while on 19th May the President commemorated the soldiers killed during the war.

“So it is very clear that there is a division between the Tamil nation and the Sinhala nation,” the MP said.

Rasamanickam said the President must not waste public funds on a “fake” Sri lanka day.

Sri Lanka says resolution failed to muster majority support

OHCHR to appoint investigators, legal advisors on Sri Lanka
