Former Minister Chamara Sampath granted bail

Parliamentarian and former Minister Chamara Sampath, was granted bail by court after being in remand in relation to the case over the misappropriation of Rs. 1 million.

The MP was granted bail by the Badulla Magistrate?s Court.

He was arrested in March and remanded after being accused by the Bribery Commission of soliciting funds from three state banks for Government projects but later transferring them into his private foundation account.

Meanwhile, former Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Milan Jayatilleke was also granted bail over a case filed by the Bribery Commission.

Jayatilleke was accused of causing the government a loss of over Rs. 300,000.
