Dr. Ruvaiz Haniffa nominated as SJB mayoral candidate for Colombo

Samagi Jana Balawegaya Leader Sajith Premadasa named Dr. Ruvaiz Haniffa as the party’s mayoral candidate for the Colombo Municipal Council.

The announcement was made after a meeting between Dr. Ruvaiz Haniffa and Premadasa.

Premadasa said that Dr. Haniffa, a medical doctor and lecturer in the Departments of Community and Family Medicine at the Universities of Colombo and Kelaniya, is widely recognized for his expertise and contributions to both local and international governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as his experience as an administrative officer.

Dr. Ruvaiz Haniffa will be contesting the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Earlier, former MP Hirunika Premachandra had said that Eran Wickremeratne was likely to be the SJB mayoral candidate for the Colombo Municipal Council. (Colombo Gazette)

Special security plan enforced for festive season

A special security plan has been enforced for the festive season, the Ministry of Defence said today. The Defence Ministry said that the tri-forces and the Police have taken measures to beef up security under a special plan in view of the festive season.
