Sri Lanka targets Hard Rock Cafe after losing McDonalds

Sri Lanka is looking to secure a deal with the US restaurant chain Hard Rock Cafe after losing McDonald’s over?standard issues.
According to the Daily Mirror, Hard Rock Cafe has sealed a deal with Abans and will be entering Sri Lanka later this year.
Abans Group Head of Investment Supun Perera was quoted as saying that plans are underway to open Hard Rock Cafe at the Colombo City Centre (CCC).
It was reported that One Galle Face Mall and Havelock City Mall had also made a bid to secure a deal with Hard Rock Cafe.
McDonald?s and Abans had entered a legal settlement last year mutually ending their relationship.
McDonald?s Corporation had not yet listed Sri Lanka among the countries where applications can be submitted to represent the company.
In March last year McDonald?s decided to end an agreement with its local partner in Sri Lanka, Abans, and all 12 outlets in the country were closed.
The parent company decided to terminate the agreement with the franchisee due to standard issues.
Abans first partnered with McDonald?s in 1998.?(Colombo?Gazette)
