Travel ban imposed on former IGP Deshabandu Tennakoon

A travel ban has been imposed on former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon.

The travel ban was imposed by the Matara Magistrate?s Court on a request made by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

An order has been issued on Friday to arrest Deshabandu Tennakoon over a shooting incident that took place in front of the W15 Hotel in Matara in 2023.

The Matara Magistrate?s Court issued the order to arrest Tennakoon and a number of former officers of the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) over the incident.

Police Media Spokesperson, SSP Buddhika Manatunga said that the CCD had been deployed to the area in an unlawful manner.

The Police Media Spokesperson said that Tennakoon and the CCD officers are to be named as suspects in the case.

The suspects are being charged with conspiracy to commit murder.?(Colombo Gazette)

Private bus conductor murders another bus conductor

A private bus conductor has murdered another bus conductor in Weligama, the Police said. Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that the bus conductor was stabbed by another man inside the bus.
