Sri Lankan public urged not to panic following fears of fuel shortage

The Sri Lankan public have been urged not to panic following fears of a fuel shortage in the country.

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said that adequate fuel stocks had been dispatched to fuel sheds across the country.

The CPC insisted that there is no shortage of fuel and there was no need for panic buying.

Fuel distributors had earlier warmed that they will suspend fuel distribution over moves to abolish the 3% discount currently offered to distributors by the CPC. (Colombo Gazette)

Wasp attack injures 32 in Bogawantalawa

A wasp attack injured 32 people in?Bogawantalawa today, the police and hospital sources said. The police said that workers attached to the plantation sector were injured in the attack. Among those injured were 28 women, the police in the area told the Colombo Gazette. Meanwhile hospital sources said that 4 people had?sustained?serious injuries in the wasp attack.

UNP to offer legal advice in all police divisions

The UNP has decided to make available two lawyers each to offer legal advice to any person who wants it at all police divisions around the country. Speaking at an event in Colombo today UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said that every citizen had a right to seek fair justice for his or her?grievances.
