President holds key discussion with Army on security situation

President Anura Kumara Disanayake had a key discussion with the Sri Lanka Army on the security situation in the country.

The discussion was held at the Presidential Secretariat, the President’s Media Division said.

The meeting, attended by senior officials of the Sri Lanka Army, focused on the future measures regarding the security situation in Sri Lanka.

Among those present were Deputy Minister of Defence, Aruna Jayasekara, Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo. (Colombo Gazette)

Wimal gets his passport back, case in May

The Negombo Magistrate today released the passport of National Freedom Front Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa and fixed the hearing into his case for May next year. Weerawansa was arrested over his passport by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on October 23. The Government said that he was arrested over?having in his possession two forged passports. Weerawansa was grilled by the CID at the airport when he was about to leave for Italy.

Two Lankans grilled by Indian authorities
