Jaffna doctor stabbed last night

A doctor attached to the Jaffna teaching hospital was stabbed and injured by an unidentified group last night. The doctor was attacked while he was returning home along the Kantharmadam road in Jaffna. Unconfirmed reports said the attackers used a sword to stab the doctor. He was admitted to hospital for treatment and a police complaint has also been lodged.

Death toll reaches 30, over 14 missing

The death toll from the extreme weather experienced in the country over the past few days reached 30 by today with over 14 still missing, the Disaster Management Center said.
