Lufthansa awarded contract to repair SriLankan Airlines engines

Lufthansa has been awarded the contract to repair and maintain SriLankan Airlines engines, the Government said on Wednesday.

International competitive bids had been called for the contract of the repairing of CFM56-5B engines and the maintenance, repairing and operation overhaul of SriLankan Airlines.

The Government said that seven bids had been submitted for that purpose.

The Cabinet of Ministers have approved a proposal presented by President Anura Kumara Disanayake in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning and
Economic Development to award the said contract to the lowest responsive bidder.

Accordingly, Lufthansa Technik (LHT) Hamburg has been picked for a period of four years.

The decision was reached based on the recommendations of the Technical Evaluation Committee and the Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet
